Penang, Malaysia — August 2026 — At most universities, writing a book takes years. At Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) this July, it took a weekend.

Ten academicians, researchers, lecturers, and students arrived at Studio Graphic, School of the Arts (SOTA), USM on 8 and 9 July with an idea, a deadline, and — in most cases — not a single word written. By the close of the second day, all ten had completed and published full-length books through Lulu.com, an independent international publisher.
